The deputy speaker of Kebbi House of Assembly, Hon Sama’ila Muhammed Bagudo, was on Friday, October 31, abducted at his residence in Bagudo area of the state shortly after he left a mosque.
Speaking from the kidnapper’s den, Bagudo, in a voice clip circulating on some social media platforms spoke about the money realised in order to settle the abductors for his immediate release.
According to him, the sum of N140 million has been realised and he instructed one of his colleagues in the state Assembly to sale off his four vehicles in order to raise more money to meet the targeted ransom demanded by his abductors.
Unconfirmed report indicated that the abductors have demanded over N200 million ransom for his release.
However, a close ally of the deputy speaker, Malam Abubakar Bagudu, contacted by Leadership said that he is not aware of the voice clip.
“We don’t even know where this clip came from, and we are not even sure whether the voice contained in the clip directly came from the deputy speaker,” Bagudo said.
“We were surprised that the deputy speaker, who is very close to us, cannot talk to us before making such a comment on the clip concerning ransom,” he added.
Also, another unconfirmed report indicated that the deputy speaker is trying to raise the ransom demanded by his abductors for his possible release on Friday.
