The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has suspended the promotion from Mogaji to Jagun Olubadan indefinitely, according to palace sources.
The Jagun Olubadan is the first step (after you have been Mogaji) in the long journey to becoming the Olubadan. There are currently hundreds of Mogajis in the capital city of Oyo state.
A palace source claimed the indefinite suspension of the promotion of any Mogaji to the Jagun line was to “sanitize the system from becoming all-comer affairs.”
A statement by the spokesperson to the monarch, Adeola Oloko, disclosed that Muyiwa Makinde, the elder brother of Governor Seyi Makinde, would be promoted from Aare Onibon to Gbonka Olubadan.
Billionaire businessman, ‘Dotun Sanusi, would be promoted from Ajia to Bada Olubadan, while Akinola Alabi, a two-term reps member, would be elevated from Jagun to Ajia Olubadan.
The monarch had earlier promoted some chiefs in November. The Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole-Foko, was promoted to Otun Olubadan. Asipa Olubadan, Oba Kola-Daisi, was promoted to Osi Olubadan. Ekerin Olubadan, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, was promoted to Asipa Olubadan. Ekarun Olubadan, Oba Muritala Adebayo Akande, was promoted to Ekerin Olubadan, while Abese Olubadan, Chief Kola Babalola, SAN, was promoted to Ekarun Olubadan.
